Relayed the first live transatlantic television pictures in July 1962. Built by Bell Labs for AT&T and launched by NASA on July 10, 1962. Inspired a hit instrumental record by The Tornados. Damaged by radiation from a high-altitude nuclear test and fell silent in early 1963. Still in orbit.
