The first spacecraft to cross the asteroid belt and fly past Jupiter, in December 1973. Carries a gold-anodized plaque showing a man, a woman, and the location of Earth. Powered by radioisotope generators. The last signal was received in January 2003. Heading toward the star Aldebaran.
