About Deep Impact
Fired an impactor into comet Tempel 1 on July 4, 2005. The flyby craft watched the collision and studied the debris plume. Revealed a dusty, fragile comet interior. Later flew past comet Hartley 2 as the EPOXI mission. Contact was lost in 2013.
